The New Season

September is one of the most hectic and exciting months for us - no time to bemoan the end of summer! Quickly stepping up the pace and leaping into decisions about new products and looking ahead to this new season. We started with a very successful trip to Top Drawer, and already lovely shiny new things are arriving in the shop. Come and see!

That same week was the 20/21 British Art Fair at the Royal Collage of Art, so I whizzed up for the evening and met my friend Interior Designer Briony Blohm with whom I have collaborated on various projects. We both felt it was a very strong show with galleries showing some beautiful works, in particular a Victor Pasmore (see above) shown by Dominic Guerrini caught our eye. He also had some lovely Ben Nicholson etchings I had been asked to look out for (see below).

In between galavanting to London to buy gorgeous things for the shop, we are now up and seriously running in our new workshop (running to catch up with framing and with Taylor and Alex enjoying well earned holidays!) We were a small team over the last couple of weeks and as a result we couldn't manage to get to a lovely looking exhibition at the Belgrave Gallery where they have been showing one of my absolute favourite Artists John Emanuel. It is on for a week or so more and I would hugely recommend trying to see this exhibition. This is the painting I would have loved, but of course it has sold!

On Friday I met with Briony again this time for !00% Design at Earls Court. This is a very different type of show very much more focused on the Interior Design industry and a fantastic place to gain an overview of world trends in design and design applications. I found a company marketing an amazing array of veneers in new materials including bamboo and palms giving some great results.

I am very pleased for our featured artist Henrik Simonsen, as the image of his stunning silkscreen, Red and Blue has been used for the Affordable Art fairs advertising material, that put him well and truly on the map! This beautiful print is available to buy from our online gallery - click here.

That is it for this Blog instalment, I'll try not to leave it so long to update you on new arrivals in our Lewes shop and am looking forward to telling you of some fantastic new prints also arriving soon, until then I hope you enjoy this extraordinary return to heat and sunshine.
