Fresh feeling of change in the air!

We launched into the week by changing our window display, we have built a reputation over the years for our displays, and I love hearing that someone’s day has been brightened by them, and it puts us under pressure to maintain our high standards. I always try to show new artwork or products to contrast with the display before, it throws the shop into chaos and I love the energy change always brings. This week we were taking out a seaside window with lovely hammocks, windbreaks and cushions by deckchair stripes and a reproduction of Eric Ravilious' Newhaven harbour. The hammocks have been hugely popular and we have just been unpacking our latest delivery!

Our new window is very simple by comparison, showcasing original prints by four of our favourite artists - Sonia Delaunay, Sir Terry Frost, Patrick Heron and Bridget Riley. Connected by their bold and brilliant use of form and colour, artwork of this calibre really speaks for itself and needs no accessorizing. We have simply arranged the four framed pieces with a selection of gorgeous books on the artists' life and works.

Brighton Festival is now in full swing, with so much to see and do, we are going to see Lee Scratch Perry tonight at the Dome, I am really excited.

In celebration of Aung Saan Sui Kyi being this year's festival honorary director, artist Gary Goodman has produced Freebirda beautiful original screenprint newly available and from which all profits will be donated to the Burma Campaign UK.
