Leonardo DavinciI felt very priviledged to go to see the Leonardo Exhibition at the National Gallery last week. It was an epic collection of his work and a once in a lifetime opportunity to see these incredible  masterpieces, and yet they had been curated in such a way as to achieve a sense of intimacy and closeness. The quality of glass and the way they were arranged that allowed us to get very near to the work was wonderful. I particularly loved seeing the drawings that worked up to the major work and to see the artists planning and masterful draughtsmanship.

I would highly recommend getting to see this wonderful exhibition before it ends on February 5th 2012.

There are those of us who have a thing for stationary, for me there is something particularly pleasing about a crisp unused journal or a new diary waiting for its first entry, is it about the infinite possibilities or just the anticipation of making your mark? Here is a selection of some the lovely new pieces we have available at the shop.

During a hectic Saturday in the shop, we had a surprise visit from Seb Lester, the amazing talent behind some of the most intricate calligraphy images in the recent spike of popularity in this genre. He brought in his most recent work, gorgeous seasonal works a classic combination of gold and red on black and the more contemporary version of chrome and gold onto white and they will shortly be available from our website.

And now that these lovely prints have put us in a distinctly Christmassy mood I thought you may want see this short film where all the Christmas decorations going back twenty years come magically out of the box! I hope you enjoy your Christmas planning and preparations as much as I do!
