Carpe Diem

It seemed appropriately inspiring and timely to use this brilliant reminder in our window display, over the Olympics. Our sunny beachy window display which had kept us all cheerful through the rain and the finally looked just right when we had our fantastic heat wave, has made way for a whole different look. This gorgeous collection of clocks finally arrived with us and we wanted to really show them off.

These are the wonderful prints, newly available on our website, from painter and printmaker Tom Hammick. The amazing woodcut Beneath the wide wide Heaven is truly beautiful, both in terms of subject and scale (it is 120 x140cm). It is one of only five so don't hesitate! I love the intensity of Tom's use of colour in his prints, House and Moonlit woods, and then in contrast the extremely delicate pallete used in Snowfall.

Artizan Editions graced the cover of August's Brighton Viva Magazine and all credit to them they are printmakers to the very highest standard.

Stella Marris' prints are also available from our website, beautiful minimal work with a focus on pure colour and the power of highly refined, pared back elements. Interestingly she comes from Cornwall and all her works, though abstract, have a definite coastal air about them.

The summer flew by and ArtWave is proving to be as popular as ever, with a constant flow of enthusiastic and interested art lovers. We are still enjoying our exhibition of New Miniatures, a collection of paintings by Lewes artist Jessica Zoob.

Our Exhibition opened on the 25th August and runs until the Saturday 8th September, here in our Lewes shop. Our opening night has been beautifully recorded for posterity in a great little film by Jerome James King.

Off to the second of this seasons trade fairs on Sunday so lots of new things to show you when I'm back!
